When Housing Connections works with local groups, the final affordable housing development fits with the local landscape and with the community’s concepts and designs. Housing Connections does not use a “cookie cutter” approach to any aspect of affordable housing technical assistance. While there are standards, procedures and best practices to developing affordable housing, each town must apply them in a way that fits its own context.
Housing Connections has provided services to more than half of the 151 eligible towns in the state. The program has provided assistance in the development of 271 completed units of affordable housing, representing over $46 million in development. At any given time, there are an additional 600 units of housing in the pipeline that Housing Connections is supporting.
Affordable housing is shown to provide a beneficial impact not only to the families who live there, but to the community at large. This presentation provides an overview of those benefits.
